Sarvodaya Day or Martyr Day

Today is Sarvodaya Day or Martyr Day in India. It is the day that in 1948 Indian pacifist and leader Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is assassinated by Nathuram Godse, a Hindu extremist.
So it's the day they killed Mahatma Gandhi.
Chillingly, it's also the day in 1956 when American civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.'s home is bombed in retaliation for the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

Anyhow, I thought I'd go read an Indian paper and see how they deal with the 60th anniversary of killing Mahatma Gandhi.

I found nothing about it at first, then I found all of the following:

But then I realized I was reading the paper from 2006. I looked at today's online paper, nothing. Well, not nothing, look they're doing a Phil Collins tribute at the Hard Rock Cafe. (I missed the part when Eric Clapton was part of Genesis, though).

Rocking with Phil Collins Radio Indigo and Hard Rock Café in association with Prestige The Man store is presenting an exclusive Phil Collins special night. Phil Collins was part of the group Genesis with renowned guitarist Eric Clapton. As he celebrates his birthday on January 30, a special showcase event – “One more night” is scheduled today at Hard Rock Café, St. Mark’s road from 8 p.m. onwards. The evening will have some of the best drummers from the city perform Phil Collins tracks. Exclusive videos and live footage of the artist’s performance will be played. Phil Collins fans can look forward to winning some exclusive goodie bags by answering trivia about the artist.
