Sugar Bowl Hawaii Plays Georgia Tonight!

Hawaii's dreams finally came true when it received an invitation to play Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.

The Warriors completed their first undefeated regular season with a come-from-behind, 35-28 victory over Washington on Dec. 2.

They finished No. 10 in the Bowl Championship Series standings -- earning automatic inclusion into a BCS game. As expected, the Sugar Bowl took the Warriors with the last selection.

"It will be a great experience not just for my kids but for our whole state," Hawaii coach June Jones said.

Hawaii (12-0) has a national-best 13-game winning streak. Georgia (10-2) is fourth with a six-game winning streak.

The Bulldogs, No. 5 in the BCS, rank 42nd in pass-efficiency defense -- perhaps giving the Warriors reason to believe they can throw the ball effectively. Georgia tailback Knowshon Moreno will test the Warriors' sometimes-vulnerable run defense.

From an outsider's view, Georgia is in a no-win situation in its Sugar Bowl showdown with BCS darling Hawaii.

Hammer Hawaii, and people will say that what Georgia was supposed to do. Struggle, and it will be the biggest upset of the bowl season, some will say. Just ask Oklahoma.

But, in actuality, Georgia has plenty to play for, at the forefront, next season.

Win or lose against Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl, Georgia has proven that it will be a national force in the near future. The Bulldogs almost certainly will be ranked in the Top 5 to start next season, and some even believe they'll be No. 1.

"The way the BCS is set up, I think it is very important where you are ranked preseason. I hate to say much about it, but it's the way it is," coach Mark Richt said. "You might climb from not being ranked in the preseason to getting in the game, but if you have the same amount of losses as another team, you probably won't (pass that team) if they are ranked in the top 10 or something. I think the preseason ranking has an effect on where you might finish, so there is a lot of incentive for our players to try to win the game for that reason."
